I am a qualified world-class level instructor with a Master of Music and Bachelor degree both in percussion performance, as well as over a decade of experience with students of all levels. I am currently Academic Staff (Percussion) at ECU City (Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts) and I have performed and presented over 50 masterclasses in 12 countries as of 2026. My partner Machi Ishida is also available for lessons at our studio AM Percussion Studio - she is a qualified award-winning instructor who won the World Marimba Competition, Swiss Percussion Competition and was a finalist in the Universal Marimba Competition and Taiwan International Percussion Convention Competition. She has performed solo and worked with students of all ages in Australia, Denmark, Estonia, France, Japan, Taiwan, United States and more. You can check out her website here.

IN-PERSON ONE-TO-ONE LESSONS

AM Percussion Studio (AMPS) is a dedicated studio space for percussionists who want to push themselves, no matter what level they're at. AMPS is located in Subiaco, which is just 5 min from Perth CBD in Australia. There is free parking and easy public transport access.

​

We have two tutors at AMPS - myself, and my partner Machi Ishida, who is a 2x world champion of marimba from Japan and is also an amazing tutor.

​

AMPS has two teaching rooms in the same building - THE SPACE, a large ensemble rehearsal room/event space with my beautiful Marimba One 5.0 octave and other fun instruments, and THE STUDIO, a practice-room style lesson room with another HAOSEN 5.0 octave marimba. a One Vibe vibraphone, drums and more.

Our areas of teaching include:

• Solo marimba technique (2 x 5.0 octave marimbas (Marimba One and HAOSEN) available on-site)

• Vibraphone available

• Specialist marimba performance skills for world-class level competition, audition and recital purposes

• Stick and rudimental technique for snare drum, multi percussion and other orchestral percussion

• ATAR Music/AMEB/ABRSM audition and exam preparation welcome

• Beginner to intermediate drum set performance

Our students all receive ample support to their musical journey as part of their lessons:

• Option to loan gear with one of the world's largest mallet collections

• Option to loan and purchase sheet music

• Free assistance with recordings and video work with on-site recording equipment available

• Performance opportunities at professional concerts in venues such as the UWA Conservatorium of Music and Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts through our own concerts series and my partner organisation Marimbafest Australia
